Green Goddess Detox Smoothie

Don't let the color scare you! I've tested and re-tested ingredients in order to create a green juice smoothie that is not only super nutritious but also doesn't taste like a bowl full of your backyard grass. This smoothie is refreshing & delicious and packs a powerful number nutrients to improve digestion and reduce inflammation in the body. Check out the amazing health benefits of the ingredients below: 

  • Water: improves digestion, relieves constipation, improves immune system and mood. Regulates body temperature, relieves headaches and fatigue, promotes skin health
  • Kale: antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, detoxification, fibre.
  • Spinach: anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, bone health.
  • Cucumber: anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant.
  • Lemon: antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory.
  • Pineapple: anti-inflammatory, immune system support, bone strength, eye health, improves digestion, vitamin C.
  • Ginger: gut-healing, anti-inflammatory, immune system support, lowers cholesterol, boosts metabolism, lowers blood sugar, supports memory
  • Coconut oil: healthy saturated fat, boosts fat-burning, gives quick energy to body & brain, raises good cholesterol levels 

This smoothie is a great way to start any morning off right with a nutrient-boost, or to help your insides feel clean & refreshed in times of need after a long weekend or indulgent vacay.

INGREDIENTS: 

Extra large handful of spinach & kale

Juice of 1 lime

Juice of 1 lemon

1/2 cup frozen pineapple

2 small kiwis peeled

1/4 of a cucumber peeled

1/4-1/2 inch slice of fresh ginger root

1 Tbs. melted coconut oil

Cold water & handful of ice

Optional toppings: shredded coconut, chia seeds

HOW TO:

Add greens (spinach & kale) and water to the blender first and blend until smooth. This helps create an even liquid consistency avoiding any chunkiness. (Yuck!)

Add in all remaining ingredients & blend until desired consistency.

For a lighter juice-like consistency add more water.

For a creamier smoothie texture add more ice & freeze the chunks of pineapple, kiwi, & cucumber beforehand.
