Chai Latte Smoothie

Wish those yummy Starbucks chai lattes were better for you? Now they can be! This is my cool, refreshing version of a vanilla chai. This recipe is perfect for a breakfast shake or a mid-day snack when you're craving that latte taste but don't want all the caffeine or syrups/sugars. 

The protein powder, almond milk, almond butter, and (optional) greek yogurt give this smoothie a protein boost while maintaining a light and airy taste. 

The ginger root and spices are what really give it its flavour, not to mention adding an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and immunity boost!

INGREDIENTS:

1 scoop vanilla protein powder

1/2 cup almond milk

1/2 cup water

1/2 cup greek yogurt (or 1/2 frozen banana for vegan/dairy-free) 

1/2 - 1 inch ginger root (I use 1 in. because I love ginger) 

2 tsp. almond butter 

1 tsp. cinnamon 

1/2 tsp. nutmeg 

1/2 tsp. vanilla extract 

Handful of ice  

HOW TO:

Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. 

If you like your smoothies creamier add more yogurt/banana and less water/almond milk. I always play around with the amounts until I get the perfect consistency!
