Anti-inflammatory Berry Beet Smoothie

recipes smoothies Apr 01, 2021

If you're like me and you hate the idea of eating beets, this is a good way to mix them into your diet without having to really taste them, but not missing out on all of their amazing nutrients. Here are some of the excellent health benefits beetroot has to offer:

  • anti-inflammatory
  • cancer-fighting
  • detoxifies your blood & liver
  • increases stamina
  • immune boosting
  • high in fiber & potassium

Berries are a great add-in to any breakfast smoothie because they're low in calories and high in fiber & vitamin C. Their high antioxidant content also contributes majorly toward reducing inflammation in the body due to stress, injury, inadequate physical activity or poor diet.

Ginger is another anti-inflammatory food and great for soothing the stomach which makes this smoothie easy on the tummy for those early mornings when you just want something light to get you going.

Give it a try and leave a comment below to let me know how it turned out!

INGREDIENTS:

1 frozen beetroot (washed, peeled)

1/4 - 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries (cranberries, blueberries, raspberries)

Handful of fresh raspberries

1/4 inch fresh chopped ginger root

Splash of Agave nectar

Handful of ice

~1 cup cold water (this measurement is approx, I always just eyeball it)

HOW TO:

Mix all ingredients together in a blender and blend until smooth.

If you want it to be thick like a smoothie use less water and if you want it liquidy like a juice use more!
